Description
UltraFluoride is our ceramic water filter plus fluoride and lead removal media with activated carbon for gravity water filter systems. Its combination of a microfilter ceramic outer, granular activated carbon, and heavy metal removal media effectively removes a range of contaminants, including bacteria, chlorine, microplastics, trace organics, enhanced organics, pharmaceuticals, and heavy metals such as lead. In addition to working well with British Berkefeld gravity water filters, it’s also compatible with all other gravity-fed water filter systems on the market.
FAQs
Does the Ultra Fluoride ceramic replacement cartridge fit in my Berkey?
Yes. The Ultra Fluoride ceramic replacement filter fits in the Travel, Big, Royal, Imperial and Crown Berkey. We recommend using 2 filters in your Travel Berkey, and 4 filters in your Big or Royal Berkey. Using 4 filters vs 2 will allow your system to filter your water twice as fast and the filters will last twice as long. You may use 6 in your Imperial and 8 in your Crown system.
What contaminants are reduced by the Ultra Fluoride replacement gravity filters by British Berkefeld?
The Ultra Fluoride replacement gravity filters by British Berkefeld protect against fluoride, chlorine, lead, heavy metals, chemicals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, microplastics, and bacteria.
How do British Berkefeld’s Ultra Fluoride ceramic filters compare to Berkey PF-2 fluoride reduction elements?
British Berkefeld’s solution for fluoride reduction is an all-in-one ceramic filter that installs in the upper chamber of a gravity filter system.
Berkey’s solution for fluoride reduction required purchasing a secondary set of specialty filters that hang in the water in the bottom chamber.
Do the Ultra Fluoride ceramic filters need to be primed?
No. The Ultra Fluoride ceramic filters do not require priming.
How often should the Ultra Fluoride ceramic filters be replaced?
2 filters lifespan: 3000 Liters (800 Gallons). This is about 6 months if filtering 16 liters per day and 12 months if filtering 8 liters per day.
Can I use red food colouring to test ceramic gravity filters?
No.
Do the Ultra Fluoride filters also purify water?
Yes. British Berkefeld has specialized in and perfected the use of ceramic filters for water purification for almost 200 years. Purification refers to the removal of micro-organisms.
How long can I store unused ceramic filters?
As long as they have never been used, you can store unused ceramic Berkefeld filters indefinitely in a clean, dry location. Leave them in their original packaging and inside a ziplock bag.
How often should I clean my Ultra Fluoride ceramic filters?
Cleaning frequency will be determined by your local water conditions. As the white ceramic becomes increasingly discoloured, the flow rate through the filter will diminish. When the flow rate becomes annoyingly slow, remove the cartridges from the housing. Hold each one under cool running water and scrub the discolouration off the surface of the white ceramic. Use a scotch-brite pad or kitchen brush, something abrasive. Reinstall the cartridges and resume use. Enjoy!
