This filter is for use in all sizes of Stainless Steel Berkey housings, as well as the British Berkefeld, ProOne and Walter Filter systems. Install FTO Plus filters in your Gravity system to ensure safer, healthy drinking water with a great taste. NOTE: Using this filter replaces both the Black Berkey Element and the Berkey PF-2 Fluoride Element as it also removes fluoride.
It does not require priming or the red dye test, and filters faster. So life is easier!
Use minimum 2 filters in your upper chamber.
For faster filtration speed and longer filter lifespan, use 4 filters in your Big or Royal Berkey, 6 in your Imperial and 8 in your Crown Berkey.
Rated capacity is 1500 liters using 2 filters which is 6 months if filtering approximately 8 liters per day. We recommend having a backup pair on hand. When you install them, mark in your calendar 6 months ahead to replace them.
NOTE: Run 5–6 cycles of water through the system, then wash and rinse the lower chamber before drinking to remove dust and optimize performance.

- If I am away for a 5 days or more, what should I do with my filters?
- Empty both chambers and leave the lid off to let the ceramic filters dry. Do not let them freeze or they will crack and break. When you get home, run a full cycle of water through your filters. Empty your lower chamber and wash it and your spigot with soap and water, then rinse. You may now fill your upper chamber and begin enjoying your healthful filtered water again. Stagnant water may collect bacteria and this needs to be flushed away before the water is consumed. Remember to wash and rinse your lower chamber and spigot monthly to keep them clean and sterilized
